Holidays in Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire is a picturesque county in the south-west region of Wales. This article focuses on Pembrokeshire and the admirable beauty of the place; with special reference to the best lodges in Wales.
Pembrokeshire is an emerging tourist destination. Located in the south-west corner of Wales, this county is home to some of the most wonderful beaches in the world. The comfortable weather and serene loveliness of the captivating landscape of Pembrokeshire has vastly enthralled millions of visitors across the globe.
I was born in York and have been living here ever since. Some people might find it hard to believe, but I have never been to Pembrokeshire until last month. I have heard about the magnificent beauty of the place from my relatives and friends; but never had the time or the opportunity to visit the place personally. Frustrated by the rigorous daily work, it was important that I took a break to re-energize myself in the lap of nature. Therefore, my first choice was this appealing county in Wales. This decision was also due to the fact that Pembrokeshire was voted in 2011 as the second best coastal destination in the world by the National Geographic magazine.
Pembrokeshire has a lot to offer and is equally charming for both adults and children. Not just the unspoilt and outstandingly beautiful sandy beaches, but the local attractions are also worth a try. Over the years, the architectural developments in Pembrokeshire, keeping in mind the growing popularity of the place, has also been noteworthy. Accommodation was a thing I was a little worried about. However, I was amazed to find in Pembrokeshire some of the best lodges in Wales. These lodges are strategically placed in close proximity with all the well-known visitor’s attractions, and are equipped with modern amenities and facilities.
As pointed out earlier, Pembrokeshire has some remarkable tourist destinations. Here are some popular attractions which I found out to be extremely entertaining:
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – Established in 1952, this National park is the only one in the entire United Kingdom to have a coastline. The prime appeal of the National Park is that it includes all the major beaches of the county. Surfing is the favorite activity in the beaches. The lush green park area is good for cycling and skating. The park authorities also arrange for the occasional fun-filled activities for the visitors.
Pembroke Castle – Constructed beside the River Cleddau, this castle was the birthplace of King Henry VII of England. It is the largest privately owned castle in Wales. This place has a lot to offer for the regular visitors. Fun-filled events like Living History Days, Dragon Days, Panic Circus Days, and the Story Telling are all-time hits.
The Dinosaur Park – It is a perfect place to have fun with family. The Dinosaur Trail is a mile-long walk full of surprises. The family rides as well as the Indoor Adventure and the Outdoor playgrounds are sure to bring back memories of childhood days.
Skomer Island – This small island is less than a kilometre away from the Pembrokeshire coast. The most popular attractions in this island are the wide variety of flowers, birds and sea life. People flock to this island to have a glimpse of the Atlantic Puffin, the Manx Shearwater, and the Grey Seals.
A week in Pembrokeshire was enough to refresh and restore myself. I have had a wonderful time in Pembrokeshire, and there is absolutely no way I will ever let any opportunity of revisiting this place to go past me.
