The island of Sri Lanka is considered as one of the best travel destinations. People from many different parts of the world tend to visit this country seeking for the best possible vacation. The island of Sri Lanka is situated in the Indian Ocean. This tropical paradise is famous for its proud history and culture. The main place where any tourist needs to base themselves in Sri Lanka is the city called Colombo. This city is closer to the airport and has the major five star hotels in the country. There happens to be many different activities that can take place in the city. Tourists tend to stay in Colombo because they are able to do various shopping activates and have a good time. The night life in Colombo is to die for. Clubs are open till 7am and there is always a huge crowd.

If you are on vacation in Sri Lanka you need to visit certain locations of the country to see for yourself what the fuss is all about. Sigiriya is one of the locations that many tourists visit. It takes around 6 – 7 hours depending on the mode of transport. Sigiriya is known for its major monument which is the rock fortress which was built by the kings. This is considered one of the marvels of modern day society. There are many hotels in Sigiriya that range from 3 – 5 stars. So there is no problem when it comes to finding the right accommodation. 

Another must visit place is a town which is famous for its gems. This town is known as Ratnapura. Many businessmen from various other countries tend to come here in order to purchase or sell gems. This is a hub for all gem merchants. The city of Ratnapura has a multicultural society and they all live amongst each other without any hassle. If you don’t desire the hustle and bustle of people then there is always a another locations to visit which is called Arugam bay. This is a coastal area where you can find killer waves for surfing and any other water related sports. Arugam bay is famous for its relaxing sea resorts and fresh sea food. The beaches in these locations are very clean and the water happens to be crystal clear. Many tourists spend most of their vacation in Arugam bay because there is always something to do here.
